Koh Samui changed my life.
That is not an exaggeration.
When I arrived on that island, I was overweight, stressed, hormonally imbalanced, spiritually exhausted, and physically stuck. I had been through one of the hardest seasons of my life. I had tried to force my body into responding through training, dieting, and willpower.
It was not working.
Koh Samui gave me something I did not know I needed:
Space.
- •Space to breathe.
- •Space to walk.
- •Space to fast.
- •Space to pray.
- •Space to listen to my body.
- •Space to let go of the pressure I had been carrying.
That experience became one of the foundations of TwentyAgain.
This guide is for anyone who is curious about what a wellness reset in Koh Samui might look like.
Why Koh Samui?
Koh Samui is an island in the Gulf of Thailand.
It is known for its beaches, tropical climate, wellness retreats, detox centers, yoga studios, Muay Thai gyms, healthy food options, and slower pace of life.
For decades, people from around the world have traveled to Koh Samui for wellness resets, detox programs, fitness camps, and spiritual retreats.
The island has a unique combination of:
- •Affordable wellness services.
- •Warm weather year-round.
- •Access to fresh food, coconuts, and clean eating.
- •Muay Thai and fitness training.
- •Yoga and meditation.
- •Massage and recovery.
- •Beaches and nature.
- •A slower, less stressful pace of life.
That combination makes it one of the most popular wellness destinations in the world.
What I did there
When I arrived in Koh Samui, I did not have a perfect plan.
I had a general idea: slow down, move my body, eat clean, fast, pray, and give my body room to respond.
Here is what my days generally looked like:
Morning: Wake up early. Walk barefoot on the beach. Get sunlight. Breathe. Pray. Express gratitude.
Mid-morning: Train. Some days Muay Thai. Some days gym work. Some days just walking or swimming.
Afternoon: Rest. Read. Journal. Nap. Get a massage. Sit in silence.
Evening: Eat clean. Usually one or two meals a day. Fresh fish, vegetables, coconut, fruit, rice when appropriate. No processed food. No alcohol. No junk.
Night: Sleep early. No screens. No stress. Let the body recover.
That was it.
- •No fancy protocol.
- •No expensive program.
- •No guru telling me what to do.
Just space, movement, food, rest, sunlight, prayer, and time.
The fasting component
Fasting was a big part of my reset.
I used a combination of time-restricted eating (usually 18:6 or 20:4) and occasional longer fasts (24-72 hours).
- •Fasting helped me reset my relationship with food.
- •It helped me understand my hunger.
- •It helped me feel lighter.
- •It helped me think more clearly.
- •It gave my body time to rest from constant digestion.
- •I am not saying fasting is right for everyone.
- •I am not saying my approach should be copied exactly.
- •I am saying it was part of my journey, and it made a difference.
If you are interested in fasting, please read our separate article on fasting and make sure it is appropriate for your health situation.
The training component
Muay Thai was transformative for me.
- •Not because I became a fighter.
- •But because it gave me a physical outlet that was different from anything I had done before.
- •It was humbling.
- •It was hard.
- •It was fun.
- •It made me feel alive.
Koh Samui has many Muay Thai gyms that welcome beginners. You do not need to be a fighter. You just need to be willing to show up and try.
Beyond Muay Thai, I also walked daily, swam, and did basic gym work.
The key was consistency, not intensity.
- •I was not trying to destroy my body.
- •I was trying to rebuild it.
The spiritual component
This part is personal.
For me, the reset was not just physical. It was spiritual.
- •I prayed every morning.
- •I expressed gratitude.
- •I read scripture.
- •I sat in silence.
- •I asked God to help me become the person I was supposed to be.
- •That may not be your path.
- •But for me, it was essential.
- •The body, mind, and spirit are connected.
- •When one suffers, the others feel it.
- •When one heals, the others benefit.
That is part of what I mean by Wellness That Fits.
- •It is not just about the body.
- •It is about the whole person.
What changed
Over the course of my time in Thailand, my body started responding.
- •I lost weight.
- •My energy improved.
- •My sleep improved.
- •My mood improved.
- •My hormones started to shift.
- •My blood pressure improved.
- •My mind felt clearer.
- •My spirit felt lighter.
- •I did not use any medications during that time.
- •I did not use any peptides.
- •I did not use any supplements beyond basic electrolytes and vitamins.
I used movement, food, fasting, sunlight, sleep, prayer, and time.
- •That does not mean everyone will have the same experience.
- •That does not mean medications or treatments are not sometimes needed.
- •That does not mean my path should be copied exactly.
It means the foundation matters.
And sometimes the foundation needs space to work.
Practical tips for someone considering a Koh Samui reset
If you are curious about doing something similar, here are some practical things to consider:
Duration: I recommend at least 2-4 weeks if possible. One week is too short to truly reset. The body needs time to adjust.
Budget: Koh Samui can be very affordable. Accommodation, food, training, and massage can cost a fraction of what they cost in the US or Europe.
Training: Look for Muay Thai gyms or fitness programs that welcome beginners. Many offer drop-in sessions or weekly packages.
Food: Eat local. Fresh fish, vegetables, fruit, coconut, and Thai food can be excellent. Avoid tourist junk food.
Fasting: If you plan to fast, make sure it is appropriate for your health. Start with time-restricted eating before attempting longer fasts.
Health: Bring any medications you need. Have travel insurance. Know where the nearest hospital is. Stay hydrated. Protect yourself from the sun.
Mindset: Go with intention. This is not a vacation. It is a reset. Treat it with respect.
This is not medical advice
I want to be clear.
- •This guide is not medical advice.
- •It is not a prescription.
- •It is not a treatment plan.
- •It is not a guarantee.
- •It is my story.
- •It is what worked for me.
- •It is shared with the hope that it might inspire someone else to explore what their body needs.
If you have health conditions, take medications, or are unsure whether a wellness reset is appropriate for you, talk to a provider first.
How this connects to TwentyAgain
TwentyAgain was born from this experience.
The lessons I learned in Koh Samui — about slowing down, listening to the body, building a foundation, and giving the body room to respond — became the philosophy behind everything we do.
- •Wellness That Fits is not about forcing the body.
- •It is about supporting it.
- •It is about understanding it.
- •It is about building a path that actually works for your real life.
Sometimes that path includes modern tools like provider-reviewed treatments, peptides, hormone support, or weight support medications.
Sometimes it starts with walking barefoot on the earth, breathing, getting sunlight, and being grateful.
Both can be true.
That is Wellness That Fits.
